Leo Durant U.S. Marines – Vietnam War Veteran – Purple Heart

Leo Durant is a decorated U.S. Marine that served in the Vietnam War.  He was a 1st Lt. and an Honor Graduate from the Army Armor School.  Leo was in charge of a unit that had 10 Amtracs, known as Amphibian Tractors that became known as the AmGrunts in a place called Cua Viet, Vietnam.

After only two months in Vietnam, Leo was seriously injured by a mortar attack.  5 of his men were killed, 17 were wounded and Leo was injured from his toes to his right eye and numerous parts between.  Leo spent a month in a hospital in Japan where he contracted gangrene in his wounds of his leg.  He underwent another surgery where some of the muscles and tendons were removed from his leg in order to save it.  He was then transferred to the hospital at Great Lakes Naval Base where he spent the better part of a year recovering.

Leo’s story, although as tragic as it is, is one of inspiration.  It would be easy to give up going through what Leo did, but he persevered and became a very successful business owner.  LND Construction, located in Las Vegas has a project portfolio that is impressive.  The impressiveness is based on Leo’s never give up attitude and his Marine mindset… “At All Costs: Accomplish the Mission”.  Voice of the Vet is proud to present Leo Durant, U.S. Marine and Success Story.  Oo-rah!
