Voice of the Vet Chairman, Peter Palivos, reaches out to Congressman Gooden
.
Good afternoon Congressman Gooden,
.
As the pro bono attorney for veteran groups in Nevada, and as the Chairman of Voice of the Vet, I want to applaud you for your proposed STOP bill. Also, all of the veteran groups, including Bob Maxwell, the CEO of Voice of the Vet and Andre Haynes, CEO of Armed Forces Chamber, who are both being copied and are in support of your bill. However, we ask you to amend your bill in order to also allow American businesses to sue the Chinese government.
Our request for this bill amendment is based on fairness, good policy and good politics. Significantly, the Chinese government’s reckless, intentional and cover-up actions have decimated millions of American businesses, especially many of the 32 Million Small Businesses, which are the backbone of our country’s economy. Many of these small businesses, which are operated by veterans, will never recover. Moreover, many of these businesses’ insurance does not cover their loses. Hence, by amending your bill, you will give hope and an opportunity to many American businesses to one day be ‘made whole’.
Additionally, by allowing for this bill amendment, our great nation and its citizens will be sending a strong message to China for them to get their act together. Significantly, COVID-19 is either the third pathogen ‘accident’ or intentional act of China. Regardless of whether this involves a negligent or intentional act, your amended bill will send this message to China- act responsibly and as a good citizen of the world community or you will get sued by the American citizens and businesses that you damage!
If you are with us, we will begin a national campaign to support your bill and amended bill. Your amended bill is needed because history has taught us that rogue nations like China only understand American strength and resolve.
God bless you, your family and our nation!
Peter A. Palivos
Attorney-at-Law
Chairman of the Board
