Voice of the Vet is constantly on the lookout for information that can help Veterans and their families and we are also looking to protect our Veterans. This post is our first installment to inform the general public that there are people out there that don’t have the guts and integrity to actually join the military and serve honorably. Our thoughts are, “If a person will fake being a Military Veteran and do it for personal gain, what else are they capable and willing to do?” These are sick people that are in serious need of psychological help. They are also cowards that the psychological help more than likely may not do the trick.
There are Federal Laws now that make it a Federal crime to present yourself as a Military Veteran, Navy Seal, Special Forces and more. A lot of these clowns even wear uniforms with medals and ribbons. They even have the stupidity (because they are) to wear a name tag with their actual name on it. These stolen valor clowns even go to Military events, do speeches, attend Military funerals and much more. Trust me when I say that REAL Veterans DO NOT want anything to do with the stolen valor clowns other than to see then face a judge for being a cowardly moron.
In the United States since the early 2000s, the term “stolen valor” has become popular slang for this kind of behavior. Other terms include “fake warriors”, “military phonies”, “medal cheats”, and “military posers”.
What does Stolen Valor mean:
“Stolen Valor” is a term applied to the phenomenon of people falsely claiming military awards or badges they did not earn, service they did not perform, Prisoner of War experiences that never happened, and other tales of military derring-do that exist only in their minds.
A military imposter is a person who makes false claims about his or her military service in civilian life. This includes claims by people that have never been in the military as well as lies or embellishments by genuine veterans. Some individuals who do this also wear privately obtained uniforms or medals which were never officially issued to them.
A word to those cowards that have stolen valor or thinking about it… DON’T, because you will eventually get caught and we will be more than happy to let everyone know all about you and your cowardly act. That is a promise and a fact!
