VA Employee Caught on Camera Beating,
Kicking Veteran Patient in Head
From Military.com
A 73-year-old Vietnam War veteran was choked, slammed to the ground, stomped and kicked in the head by a person who was allegedly a Department of Veterans Affairs employee at the Fort McPherson, Georgia, clinic, according to a security video released Tuesday by the VA.
In the video, veteran Phillip Webb is seen in a waiting room, engaged in a heated discussion with an employee who points his finger in Webb’s face. When Webb smacks the finger away, the employee grabs Webb’s hands, wrestles him across the room, chokes him, slams him to the ground, presses his foot onto Webb’s neck and then kicks him in the head.
This absolute disgrace of a VA employee is Lawrence Gaillard Jr., a patient advocate at the clinic, has been identified by the VA as the employee. He was arrested the day of the beating, April 28, and charged with felony assault. This is only part of the story. To read the entire article and watch the horrific video, CLICK HERE. Let’s hope that the Fulton County District Attorney puts this clown where he belongs, and it’s not the VA.
But wait… There’s More! Click Here to read another article and a letter from Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) is quoted in the article as saying, “This vile display of behavior is horrifying and antithetical to the VA’s critical mission of caring for ‘those who have borne the battle’ in defense of our nation,” Rep. Roy wrote to VA Secretary Denis McDonough. “Every veteran who walks through the doors of a VA facility should be treated with the utmost respect worthy of their service to our country.”
Rep. Roy called on the VA to investigate the incident and terminate Gaillard.
“The VA must take immediate action to hold this employee accountable – the least of which is removing him as an employee of the VA,” Rep. Roy wrote.
Voice of the Veteran commends and thanks Rep. Chip Roy for standing up for Veterans. We agree with Rep. Roy and we feel that the assailant, Lawrence F. Gaillard should be in prison. Come on VA and grow a pair! Take care of Veterans which is what you should have done immediately in this case!
