The Predators

There are what appears to be many “programs for Veterans” throughout the country, but sadly not all of them have the best interest of the Veteran at heart.  We have witnessed firsthand the abuse of Veterans in many ways, including housing.  Some “Veterans Organizations” or those claiming to be, abuse the Veteran by placing 3 or more homeless Veterans in a small room and charging each Veteran the exorbitant full price for the room, thereby illegally profiteering off the backs of the Veterans and the funding they receive from Federal Programs.  More often than not, these rooms are filthy and unsafe, not maintained by the organizations, and Veterans are threatened by eviction if they do not do what those organization forces them to do.

It is a sad state of affairs when organizations are trusted to house homeless Veterans and verbally, mentally and physically abuse them.  More and more Veterans are coming forward throughout the United States and right here in our own Las Vegas Valley, with disgusting and heart wrenching stories of their treatment at the hands of the predator organizations.  Some of these organizations are operating without a license and their status is “permanently revoked” and therefore are operating illegally.  These people and organizations know who they are, but they continue to illegally take advantage of and mistreat our Nation’s Heroes, this WILL STOP.

Voice of the Veteran is assisting in the investigation into these illegal practices and the horrific treatment of our Veterans, homeless or not.  Keep in mind that there are many Veterans that are former or retired Police Officers and Federal Agents. The job will get done by removing these predators and their threat to the lives, safety and security of our Veterans.

Strength in Numbers

Voice of the Veteran and our Staff are All In with “Empowering Success Now” because they have proven themselves for the past 11 years in Los Angeles with these programs.  They are the real deal and Voice of the Veteran is honored to go on this journey with them and make a positive difference in the life of a Veteran by giving them “a hope and a future”.  This is only the beginning of many more truly beneficial programs that Voice of the Veteran and Empowering Success Now will be unveiling during 2021.  The Brotherhood and Sisterhood of Veterans is Solid and Strong because We are Veterans Helping Veterans and that says it all!

“Empowering Success Now” is making strong and steady strides in reaching their first level goal of acquiring 6 houses.  There are currently 3 houses that are in the final stages of opening and already there is a waiting list.  House #1 (shown in the gallery below) is a 7 bedroom, 5000 sq ft home, nestled in the west side of the Las Vegas Valley.  Stay tuned as this outstanding program continues to develop.

Some facts about Veterans and Homelessness

Veterans with a history of homelessness are five times more likely to attempt suicide than other veterans, a new study by researchers at Yale and the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs has found.

The authors argue in the study, published the journal Psychiatric Services, that funding for homeless programs for veterans is crucial to efforts to reduce suicide rates among veterans.

General population studies have shown veterans kill themselves at twice the rate of their civilian counterparts. The majority of veterans who commit suicide are not under VA care and they share some of the same risk factors — such as substance abuse and mental health problems — as homeless populations, said lead author Jack Tsai, associate professor of psychiatry at Yale and director of research at the Veterans Affairs Errera Community Care Center.
