2019 Veterans’ Hero of the Year Award

Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak

2019 VETERANS’ HERO OF THE YEAR AWARD – Voice of Vet, which is the “Vigilant Voice for Our Nation’s Veterans,” is proud to announce that Governor Steve Sisolak is the recipient of the 2019 VETERANS’ HERO OF THE YEAR AWARD. Governor Sisolak is receiving this award because of his significant support of veterans, their families, and veterans’ issues.
.
This past legislative session, Governor Sisolak signed 20 bills into law that supported our veterans and their families.  From educating doctors about veterans’ health care needs to reducing the cost of education for our student veterans, Governor Sisolak has made it a priority to help our soldiers during their transition back to civilian life.
.
Additionally, the Governor’s budget increased the number of Veterans Services Officers that can help veterans and their family members access needed benefits, including funds for skilled nursing care. Governor Sisolak ensured that the Nevada Department of Veterans Services received over $16 million to operate a brand new veterans skilled nursing care facility in Northern Nevada.
.
Governor Sisolak has repeatedly shown that he is committed to helping the 250,000 veterans who reside in the State of Nevada. He recognizes that it’s the least he can do to pay back veterans and their families for the sacrifices they made for their country.  It is an honor for our organization to recognize Governor Sisolak with this award on Veterans Day.
