Veterans Speak Out Against VA, DoD 2019 Conference

The VA and DoD teams will travel to Music City in August 2019 for a Suicide Prevention Conference.  As it states in their blog “Nearly 2,000 VA and DoD care teams, leaders, allies and subject matter experts from across the country will convene at the 2019 VA/DoD Suicide Prevention Conference in Nashville, Tennessee.”  Many People and Veterans are voicing their numerous concerns and complaints about how this conference misses the mark and all the money spent on this lavish getaway for the “decision makers and experts” is a farce.  This getaway, I mean conference was brought to our attention by a Navy Veteran who has been suffering with amazing back pain for years without any helpful results from the VA that he is treated at.  He has also been fighting with the VA Pension and Group Services for 25 years on his disability claim and he just received another online notice that it will take another 285 days!

This outstanding Veteran joined the Navy and served his country to the best of his ability and yet he is being mistreated by the VA.  I say mistreated because how else can you classify it when it has been 25 years to approve his disability claim and it is still NOT APPROVED!  It makes NO SENSE AT ALL!  This Veteran is now homeless and stays with friends (other Vets) and wherever he can safely stay.  His pain is so severe that he does not sleep more than an half an hour at a time.  He has tried to get help from other Veterans Organizations and the VA for a place to stay, but they were all absolutely NO HELP AT ALL, which seems to be the common theme.  He like thousands of other Veterans need HELP and THEY NEED IT NOW!

Here are some of the question so many citizens and Veterans alike have… “Do these “decision makers” really need to take this extremely lavish getaway at a posh resort (wait until you see the pictures!) when so many Veterans are struggling mentally, physically and financially?”   “Do their actions prove that their system is flawed and they continue to ignore the ultra serious and immediate need of thousands of Veterans?”  Shouldn’t they stay home, go to their offices paid for by our tax dollars, do their job paid for by our tax dollars, and GET SERIOUS with making HELP happen NOW, not after they return from their resort, fun in the sun playtime?”  These are just some of the questions that people have asked us.  The general consensus of the people and Veterans we have talked with say they “think the whole thing should be investigated and covered by the news to expose them all because the Veterans they are supposed to be helping are dying daily and the others cannot afford that type of lavish vacation.”

We are Voice of the Vet and believe that ALL Veterans have the right to be heard, helped NOW and treated with respect and NEVER Ignored.

What an absolute joke.  The Department of Veterans Affairs has had decades to fix the medical services, claims, pensions, long time to study and observe mental health.  The Current VA system is causing more and more homelessness and suicide when Veterans have nowhere but a hotline, phone number or an overworked non-veteran health worker or worse a rude (which is most common) health care professional, administrator, patient advocate or claims rep.  There is no accountability in the current or past system of care and claims.  There is no way for a veteran to know where they are in the system but every time are told to be patient and wait like everyone else.  Bad news, many aren’t waiting they are committing suicide.  What other option do they have?
No… Please don’t think a survey or a hotline will do any good.
STOP making excuses, there should be no issues like these in modern-day.
The answer is not to hire more at the top level.  They have only fallen behind the more they hire.
The fake accounting of claims being handled is treason at best, claims moved from one step to the next is what you are counting, not closed and settled files.
There is NO HOMELESS HELP OR SUPPORT HERE IN LAS VEGAS, and the State pays for totally incompetent VSO reps to handle disability claims, my claims have been pushed off for over 25 years.  I have been to DAV, VFW, American Legion and a number of other organizations that could not handle the fraudulent claims process that exists.  People need to be in prison for treating veterans like this.

Congress has the power to fix all these things, they seem dysfunctional at best, other than hearings that uncovered the fact the Dept of VA destroys, shreds, falsified documents at will.  If congress wants I will show them step by step how to fix these things, I have had 25 years to discover all the many flaws and have absolute cures for the system.  I am sure my writing will not even see the light of day in their eyes, well then they need to be prosecuted for crimes against humanity on another level.  Where in the world is waiting 2 years let alone 25 years acceptable in any service, especially to a veteran who has given their all for this country and has to live with this much pain and suffering?
