Why the Veterans Supercenter Has to Be Different

  • We have all heard the speeches.
  • We have all heard the promises.
  • We have all heard people say how much they support our Veterans, our military members, our First Responders, and their families.
  • There is certainly nothing wrong with saying those things.

But eventually, somebody has to turn the words into action.

That has always been one of my biggest beliefs, and it is why our philosophy at Voice of the Veteran has been so simple:

Results Don’t Lie.

We don’t want to tell people what we might do.  We want to show them what we have done.  And now we are preparing to take that philosophy to an entirely different level with the Veterans Supercenter Campus.

We Don’t Need Another Building Full of Brochures.  We don’t need another building filled with offices and promises.  We need results that don’t lie.

We need a place where our Nation’s Heroes and their families can walk through the front door with a problem and know that everyone inside that building is there to help find a solution.

Think about that for a moment.

A Veteran shouldn’t have to figure out which organization handles which problem, make ten telephone calls, drive across town to three different offices, leave messages, fill out the same information over and over, and hope somebody eventually calls back.

That is not a system designed around the Veteran.

We want to change that.

The Veterans Supercenter Campus is being designed around a very different idea:

Bring as much help as possible together under one roof.

  • If you need help with a VA disability claim, we want it there.
  • If you need employment or workforce assistance, we want it there.
  • If you need education or training, we want it there.
  • If you need mental-health resources, we want them there.
  • If your family needs assistance, we want help available.
  • If you want to exercise, play hockey, basketball or pickleball, use a golf simulator, attend a class, participate in an event, record something in a media studio, have a meal, meet other Veterans, or simply spend some time in a place where you feel comfortable and welcome, we want that there too.

And we continue to come up with new ideas almost every day.

That’s what excites me most.

The Veterans Supercenter isn’t simply a building with a predetermined list of programs.

It is an opportunity to ask:

What do our Veterans, military members, First Responders, and their families actually need?

And then figure out how to provide it.

What Happens Inside Matters Most

Yes, I want the Veterans Supercenter Campus to be amazing.

I want somebody to see it for the first time and say, “Wow.”

I want our Nation’s Heroes to walk through those doors and immediately understand that this place was designed with respect for them.

But we aren’t going to measure success by how beautiful the building is—although I fully expect it to be spectacular.

We are going to measure success by what happens on the inside.

  • How many Veterans received the benefits they earned?
  • How many people found meaningful employment?
  • How many families received the help they needed?
  • How many Veterans received mental-health support?
  • How many people gained new skills?
  • How many friendships were created?
  • How many people discovered a sense of purpose again?
  • How many lives were changed because somebody walked through our doors?
  • Those are the numbers that matter.
  • Those are the stories that matter.
  • Those are the results that matter.

Taking the Mission to the Next Level

We believe the Veterans Supercenter Campus represents a first-of-its-kind concept in the United States: a comprehensive campus bringing an extraordinary range of services, programs, education, recreation, wellness, workforce resources, community, and family support together in one location.

Our mission includes Veterans, Active Duty military members, National Guard, Reservists, law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, First Responders, and their immediate families.

These men and women have answered the call for the rest of us.

Now we have an opportunity to answer the call for them.

And I don’t want to build something that simply looks impressive in a photograph.

I want to build something that works.

I want other communities around America eventually to look at what happened here and say:

“Why aren’t we doing that?”

If we can demonstrate that bringing these services and opportunities together makes a measurable difference, then the Veterans Supercenter can become much more than one campus.

It can become a model.

We’ve Heard the Hype. Now Let’s Prove It.

There has never been a shortage of people willing to talk about helping Veterans.

We’ve heard the slogans.

We’ve attended the ceremonies.

We’ve watched the presentations.

We’ve listened to people explain what they could do, what they would like to do, or what they someday hope to do.

At Voice of the Veteran, we believe there comes a point when the talking has to stop and the results have to begin.

We have already demonstrated what can happen when people are willing to do the work.

We have helped tens of thousands of Veterans and family members. Our VA disability claims assistance has helped Veterans secure more than $100 million in compensation.

Those results didn’t happen because somebody gave a good speech.

They happened because people went to work.

The Veterans Supercenter takes that commitment to the next level.

This will be bigger.

It will be more comprehensive.

It will bring more people, more organizations, more resources, and more opportunities together than anything we have previously undertaken.

And I believe it can change lives.

This Is Our Opportunity

This project represents an incredible opportunity.

An opportunity to do something that has not been done before.

An opportunity to stop talking about what Veterans deserve and start building it.

An opportunity to create a place worthy of the men and women who have spent their lives serving the rest of us.

And an opportunity to prove, once again, the principle that has guided me for years:

Results Don’t Lie.

The Veterans Supercenter Campus is where we intend to prove it on a scale we have never attempted before.

And believe me—

we’re just getting started.
